WIZ: Globe's Best Kept Secret
ARE YOU one of those who, like me, are always on the look out for a place with FREE WI-FI? †Are you a Globe Visibility or Tattoo subscriber? †Have you heard of WIZ?
I did an informal survey of a dozen friends and acquaintances very recently. †The typical answer I got for the above series of questions is either a YES-YES-NO or a YES-NO-NO.
Which made we arrive at the following conclusions:
1. †A lot of people are looking for places with FREE WI-FI;
2. †A lot of people are not aware of WIZ.
If you answered YES-NO-NO to my series of questions above then it is okay if you are not aware of WIZ. †But I am bothered by the fact that many people who are either Globe Visibility of Tattoo subscribers are not even aware of WIZ.
WIZ, which stands for Wireless Internet Zone, is Globe’s Wi-Fi service. †If you are a Globe Visibility subscriber, you are entitled to unlimited Wi-Fi access through WIZ (and I’ll tell you in a short while how). †If you are a Globe Tattoo subscriber, you are entitled to a certain number of hours of free Wi-Fi access per month through WIZ, depending on your plan.
The important question is, “How do you access WIZ?”
The simple answer is: †You have to be in a WIZ hotspot.
Where to find a WIZ hotspot is the not-so-simple question to answer. †Maybe that’s why WIZ is being kept a well-guarded secret until now. †When my friends in Globe Business informed me about WIZ they said WIZ is already available on several Starbucks cafes in Metro Manila. †I’ve been Starbucks hopping since and so far found exactly one that has WIZ — the one in Libis near the BMW (not the one inside Eastwood City). †There are in fact six Starbucks Cafes with WIZ if the†WIZ HotSpot List from theWIZ Website is to be believed.
The good news is, the†WIZ HotSpot List seems to be NOW growing fast. †Other coffee shops like Figaro, Bo’s Coffee, Seattle’s Best, etc. are being added to the list. †Ayala and Globe facilities (e.g. Ayala Center) are also supposed to be WIZ hotspots. †I heard just this morning that the whole of Rockwell’s PowerPlant is a WIZ hotspot.
So now you know the secret.
