With barely 8 months and 6 days before the much anticipated 2010 general elections in the Philippines, it is no surprise that election fever permeates the air.† Broadcast media as well as New Media — that is, the Internet, viral email, social networks, blogs and microblogs — are abuzz with 2010 chatter.

Much earlier than today we’ve already seen all forms of electioneering, from paid “advocacy” ads in print, radio and TV to outright declaration of intentions to run for various positions.

Controversies are, of course, a mainstay in Philippine Politics and 2010 contenders from all sides waste no time in hurling accusations to, †and digging hidden skeletons of, their adversaries.

As the big day draws nearer we are to expect that the controversies and scandals will only become more, bigger, and louder.† Welcome to Philippine Politics!

A new info-blog project of AboutPH.com has been in the works for about a month now.† And although it actually already went live several weeks back, it hasn’t been formally launched yet as some adjustments here and there were still being done by our editorial team.† In fact, it has already undergone a “name change” even before its official launch.

Without further ado we humbly launch (formally and officially, that is) — PPoL:† Philippine Politics Online.

PPoL† is, first and foremost, an info-blog.† It’s primary objective is to inform.† If it manages to entertain our readers along the way then that’s a real bonus.† If, by any luck, it is also able to influence people’s preferences and perceptions or, even better, drive people to positive action, then we submit that our stubborn resolve to go ahead with this project would have been justified.

Go ahead and check out PPoL by clicking here or in the PPoL button in our right-hand sidebar.
