Dambuhala

Tagalog word for something huge, gigantic, or gargantuan. Often used to refer to monters in Philippine mythology and folk lore. Used in contemporary language to describe a thing, event, or idea.

e.g. Ang polusyon ay nagdudulot ng dambuhalang problemang pangkalusugan. [Pollution results to monstrous health problems.]

From the Malay word “jambuhara,” a monster fish.
